END-OF-YEAR REPORT
Georgetown Business Promotion Commission
2010 Year End Report
The purpose of this report is to tell you, the Georgetown Business Community, how we spent the Commission’s money and to try to measure the effectiveness of those advertising/promotion dollars. It was a challenging year for businesses everywhere and Georgetown was no exception. Those of us representing you on the Business Promotion Commission are business owners ourselves and we are keenly aware of the difficulty we all face in these economic times.
The Commission concentrated its efforts on 4 specific goals:
1. Build a website that would be active, up to date, engaging and user friendly. Check it out! We think it’s awesome! georgetown-colorado.org
2. Concentrate our media advertising funds on TV ads in the Denver metro area. Through the Clear Creek County Tourism Board and local Georgetown businesses, we purchased matching dollars which turned $5000. into $20,000. worth of ads on Comcast. There are 7-9 ads which are specific to Georgetown and these run at various times throughout the year depending on the season and special events. Of all the ads run through the Clear Creek Tourism “nearby, near perfect” ad campaign, the Georgetown ads account specifically for 25-30%. And, 40% of those ads are run during prime time. We have an opportunity again this year to sign up for these funds.
3. Distribute town brochures outside of Clear Creek County. Because of limited funds, we opted to mail brochures to the statewide welcome/ visitor centers rather than contract with a distribution company. There are approximately 16 of these centers in the state and we mailed brochures to each center in May and again in November. We also had representation at the Chicago Adventure Travel.
4. Fund Special Events. The commission helps fund the following: Town wide yard sale, Mining and Rail Festival, Slacker Race, 4th of July, Aspen Fest, Big Horn Sheep Day, and the Georgetown Christmas Market.
Our meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month at 8am at town hall. We welcome your participation and comments.
